Macaron Class with Tartelette in Los Angeles

Tartelette in the house! (Well, at least in Southern California).

Thanks to the efforts of Rachael, Gaby and Jenny, Helene Dujardin (Tartelette) came out to Los Angeles to conduct macaron and food photography classes. Whoo hoo!

Having never made French macarons before (but eaten plenty), this class was great. Who knew aged egg whites, almonds, powdered sugar and granulated sugar could make such pretty treats!

The class was fun because I also got to meet a bunch of food bloggers and catch up with ones I met at BlogHerFood.

This is the best "to go" box ever.

Thank you sooo much Rachael, Gaby and Jenny for setting up these classes!
Both classes totally rocked!

Little jealous about you getting to take that class! ;) I fell in love with my first taste of macarons in SF at the Food BlogHer conf. And have now had a few since. They are awesome. The class sounds awesome! Sigh.

I wish I could go to that class! I had my first ever attempt at macarons yesterday and it was a complete failure but yours look gorgeous, well done :)

That sounds like so much fun. What kind of filling(s) did you make?

Oops! Never mind. I just read the caption on the photo. They almost look like they are double filled. I bet they are delicious!

That's so cool that you got to make macarons from the macaron queen herself!! Yeah, put me in with the rest of the jealous group.

I have no idea how I managed to miss this class since I follow her on Google Reader. My first attempt at macarons turned out a right disaster. This could have been really useful!

The class sounds like so much fun! All of the "cool" foodie events seem to take place on the west coast. I live on the wrong side of the country! Your macarons look fabulous - great job!

How fun! And what cute little macarons. I still need to try making them!

Love the natural color that you use in these macarons. Lovely pictures. I bake a lot of macarons and it is really challenging because the consistency is different every single time even if I make it exactly the same way. It can get frustrating sometimes but the results are too yummy to resist.
