Food Librarian - Donna Hay Banana Cake
Just when the bananas on my shelf were planning their revolt (I always forget how quickly bananas spoil in the summer), I decided to try Donna Hay's Banana Cake.

And, of course, it's a Bundt. I think the intervention is coming soon...

Everything comes together pretty quickly. I left the butter and eggs out overnight so I could make it half-asleep this morning.

Donna has a caramel sauce of brown sugar and cream...but I didn't have the cream so I made a powdered sugar, milk and vanilla simple glaze. A glaze made of powdered sugar and maple syrup would be awesome as well.

My co-workers said, "Banana...GREAT!" I tried to tell a few of them that is wasn't health food (one stick butter, three eggs and 3/4 c sour cream)... but they just saw the banana.

Heck, I'm with them. This cake is totally on the my food pyramid.

To Southern California Friends:
If you are in town this weekend (July 11-12), check out the Renegade Craft Fair in downtown Los Angeles. My friend, JustJenn is one of the exhibitors!

That looks so good! I make banana bread whenever I have overripe bananas... sometimes I think my husband purposely doesn't eat them lol

Dang you and your bundts! They just slay me; now all I want to do is go home and make a bundt cake, preferably banana.

yum! looks delicious.

whenever I make a baked good with banana or pumpkin or anything like that, I have one co-worker who seriously assumes that if there's fruit involved then it's healthy.

I agree, bananas to tend to brown up so much faster in the summer. I'm always looking for new ways to use them up... this looks perfect!

OMG, I haven't had breakfast yet and this looks so delicious that I am now drooling for a big slice with a tall glass of cold milk. How sad that I have to resort to plain 'ole (sprayed) cereal. Boo, hoo. Your admiring fan, Racheal

The banana cake looks delicious.

I'm driving to LA on Saturday for a class, so I'll actually be in town. The fair sounds interesting. I'll see if I can work it into my schedule.

I wish I could make bundts as often as you do, but they're huge and I can't finish the whole thing myself! 1 stick of butter isn't so bad!
