Food Librarian - Oatmeal Cinnamon Chip Cookies

Can I begin to tell you how excited I am to have found Cinnamon Chips in Los Angeles? (I went to a big, nice (not like my janky) Albertson's).

I turned the package of goodness over and found this recipe for oatmeal cookies! I love the back of the package recipes. They rock.

Find the recipe here on the Hershey's website!

My changes to their recipe:
1. Used old fashioned oatmeal (not quick cooking)
2. Omitted the raisins
3. Added 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon to the dry mixture

Notes: The recipe calls for 1 bag (10 oz) [1 2/3 cups] of cinnamon chips. Now, if I manufactured the main ingredient, of course I would tell you to use the WHOLE bag and then more! But, since I don't work for Hershey, I'll tell you that I think you could scale back the chips a bit. They made the cookie really sweet. Perhaps if you had raisins in it, that would cut some of the sweetness...anyway, that's my opinion. Try it out and let me know what you think. I'm just glad to have found the cinnamon chips!! :)

Ingredients:
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/3 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2-1/2 cups quick-cooking oats
1-2/3 cups (10-oz. pkg.) HERSHEY'S Cinnamon Chips
3/4 cup raisins

For the how to, see their recipe online or the back of the package!!

I didn't even know that they made cinnamon chips! I'm a huge fan of oatmeal cookies to begin with but this must be over the top and I love them with raisins. I'll have to look around here for those chips.

Cookies look super delish - just ready for a glass of milk. Yum! (Photo is great too)

My go to oatmeal cookie recipe is from the oatmeal package...but it's very similar. They're my all time favorite homemade cookie. But cinnamon chips have to be fabulous!
And congrats on your new and steady oven! I've only lived in one place with a brand new range/oven, and it was a heady experience. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure my current one is 10 degrees warmer on the right side than on the left. Yikes...
I thought of you today with a smile because I saw a Jane Austen action figure in a shop window...I have a feeling I will be going back there. (At the very least, I need to know what her action is!) :)

Those sound really good. I don't go to Starbucks very often, but one of the things I like to get there is the cinnamon chip scones.

If you haven't seen it already, check out a blog called Cooking on the Side (http://cookingontheside.com/). It's a whole blog devoted to recipes off the side/back of boxes/packages. Pretty cool.

Mmm I agree, the back of the package recipes are awesome! I haven't seen cinnamon chips. I wonder if we have them in Canada.

Oh, these look so good!!! I cannot find cinnamon chips ANYWHERE around here. I'm so irritated. I think I'm going to be forced to order them from KA Flour. Thanks for sharing this great recipe!

YUM. Those cookies look delicious. I recently found cinnamon chips in my So Cal Albertson's too. I didn't buy them, but at least I know where to go for them.

I just bought a couple bags of cinnamon chips. I had to look at 3 stores before I found them though. I'm not quite sure what I'll make first, but these tempt me :-)

Yum - how did you know I've been craving oatmeal cookies, and that I have a bag of cinnamon chips sitting in the pantry? I will have to try these very soon.

I found my first package of cinnamon chips a few months ago and would you believe I'm still hoarding them in my pantry? I haven't made a single thing! Those cookies sound yummy - maybe, just maybe, I'll finally open my bag of chips :)

I haven't found cinnamon chips around here. I'm lucky to be able to get *chocolate* chips! LOL These sound good and I'm with you on not using the whole bag.. it sounds like they'd be way too sweet.

I love oatmeal cookies but hate raisins. These look like a must try since I have never had cinnamon chips.

I love oatmeal cookies with chocolate chips - I feel a little less guilty about eating a cookie when it's oatmeal! I can never seem to find cinnamon chips in my grocery store but one day I'm sure I'll see them and create something tasty :)

Those are picture perfect cookies. I like the recipes on the package too - they're companies that just manufacture chocolate, you'd expect them to figure out a good cookie! :)

Your cookies turned out just gorgeous! I just made this same recipe myself, it's really a great one. I'll have to look for cinnamon chips around here, that sounds like the perfect addition.

I stumbled upon your blog a few weeks ago and I love it. You do a great job and I love trying new recipes. When I saw the Oatmeal Cinnamon Chip cookies, I knew I had to try it.
I found on the Hershey's website (www.hersheys.com/products) a product locator section to find the cinnamon chips. Just input your zip code and it will tell you where they are sold in your area.
I made these cookies yesterday and they are fabulous. I only used 3/4 cup of cinnamon chips and it was perfect. Sent some to my child's teachers today for teacher appreciation week.
Keep your recipe suggestions coming. I look forward to them all.
