Mother's Cookies - Wear it!

Wear your heart (stomach) on your sleeve (chest)!

The Goodbye, Mother's Cookies t-shirt

I received a lot of sympathetic responses to my Mother's Cookies demise post. And one of my photos was used on Serious Eats! (how cool is that?!)

On the Serious Eats post and from commentator Jess, I discovered there is a cool new shirt honoring my childhood (and adulthood!) favorite packaged cookie.

This shirt, by Cloth Moth has twelve of Circus Animals and the poetic words:

lights down.
little cookies.

The shirt is only $25 and will have to tide us Mother's Cookies lovers over until perhaps someone rescues the company from bankruptcy...Hint, Hint to those dolling out the $700 billion dollar bailout package!

Here's the link for ordering the shirt!

By the way, I discovered Mother's Cookies might be a West Coast thing...as my Los Angeles ex-pat friend Jennie in Kentucky discovered. She says, "I was going on and on about Mother's at work and they just looked at me." Well, if you don't know Mother's cookies, imagine THAT cookie. Yes, THAT cookie you had at every Brownie or Cub Scout meeting, during snack time at pre-school, at the PTA meeting, Tupperwear party, and perhaps the church social. Or, it's 2 am and you need a sugar fix...and you go to the dorm vending machine and there is a little packet of goodness just wanting to say "Hi and good luck on that exam." Believe me, Mother's is THAT cookie.

I heard about this... boo :( Really loved the cookies!

By the way, your biscotti looked great! Wonderful idea to halve the almond extract. Mine were too almondy also, and I was thinking that for next time, I'll reduce the cornmeal and sub half vanilla extract for almond. I also didn't get the "marching band" instruction... (?????) so I just laid them on their sides. Glad to know that others had to increase baking time as well. All in all, I really liked the taste, just wish the instructions didn't have to be tinkered with.

Cute shirt! I didn't know about Mother's Cookies until I started seeing it on the blogs. I still feel sad for them, though.

I'm still in mourning, and I've order the t-shirt to give the animal cookies props. I totally agree that this is a west coast thing. My DH and his family is from the east coast, and they think I'm a nutjob mourning the loss of these cookies...

That's exciting about your photo! I love the shirt but I'm so sad about the cookies. :( They're packed with memories for everyone and it's hard to believe they'll really be gone!

i am shocked. i heard about archway closing (east coast mother's), but didn't know mother's had too. i guess i should've have known, it's the same co, just different names for the 2 coasts. why do they do that? nevermind that. that's not what's important now. i need to get my hands on the last bags of animal cookies!!!
