Strawberry Cake
Strawberry Cake

When you get pick up a pint of strawberries for less than the cost of a latte, make this cake. Baked up in a pie shell, it is perfect for breakfast or tea. And you know it is one of my favorites because it has (a) no frosting (b) has fruit and (c) quick and easy!!!

Strawberry Cake
I walked through the library right before it opened...it was still warm and totally fragrant...staff actually followed me to the "buffet" (the countertop where I put all the treats).

A super easy batter that is topped with slices of strawberries. I like that it is baked in a pie pan...it's pie cake!

Strawberry Cake
Have a bite of edible summer!

Oh looks looks so good! I love that it is in a pie shell. I need to go get some strawberries while they are still cheap.

I've made this a few times and it's sooooo yummy. Especially that sugar crust after it bakes up!

Lol - I'm so glad to read this is a strawberry cake. After only glancing at the thumbnail photo, I thought it was a pretty sad looking pizza.

Sometimes a simple cake is the best! I love this "pie cake" and can't wait to try it with the beautiful berries that have been tempting me this week. :)

This does look wonderful and my kind of cake too without the sweet frosting. I can imagine this with lots of other kinds of fruit too!

The Martha recipe says to use a 10" pie plate (which I don't have), but yours looks like a regular 9" deep dish plate. What size did you actually use? Love the recipes you pick!

@invenanet I don't have the pie pan in front of me, but I think it is a 9 1/2 inch one...do they make that? I have also made it in a 11 x 7 pyrex dish (easier to cut into squares). The pyrex baked from 10 minutes, then 40 minutes.

Wow. I am impressed. Your cake is far more beautiful than Martha Stewart's. Something very few people on the planet manage to accomplish!

I love your blog - it is amazing how much baking you have done. I am still a beginner in baking and like you I love baking with fruits and no frosting. I tried the strawberry cake in a pie plate - inspired by your post here. It is yummy.
